Board of Directors

  • Dillon Simpson is Bill’s only grandson and serves on the Board of Directors for the Bill Simpson Foundation. Dillon’s best memories of Grandpa were the countless visits to his Lake Norman lake house, as well as trips to Key West and Mexico. Dillon's most lasting memory was when, as a college student, he skipped two weeks of classes to join his grandpa on his yacht Barracuda to sail from Guatemala to Cabo. The two shared many laughs on this trip, and Dillon cherishes the time spent with his grandfather and getting to bond with him while being molded as an adult.

Born in Charlotte, North Carolina to parents from California and Germany, Dillon grew up in an exciting cultural melting pot of North Carolina, California, and Germany. Sports, travel (and some schooling) helped shape Dillon into the individual he is today. He currently works as a Product Manager at Daimler Truck North America, where he has worked since graduating from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is also the co-owner of a commercial real estate company, Simpson Property Holdings. Dillon is married to his wife Brooke and they reside in Charlotte. Of their many hobbies, they love traveling, playing sports (especially golf and tennis), attending concerts and sporting events (go Panthers!), and spending as much time as they can possibly fit into their schedule at Bald Head Island on the beautiful coast of NC.

Dillon is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve on the Board and is eager to continue Bill's legacy while also establishing a new path to help charities around the world that align with the mission of the Bill Simpson Foundation.

  • Mike's journey with Bill Simpson began over three decades ago when a chance encounter through a high school friend of Bill's set their paths sailing across the vast waters of Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Mike's adept yachting skills seamlessly meshed with Bill's passion for maritime adventures, fostering a camaraderie built upon countless nautical miles and shared voyages. As they navigated the seas together, their bond deepened past mere companionship; it evolved into a cherished friendship.

Beyond their maritime exploits, Mike's entrepreneurial spirit as a business owner added another layer to their connection, fostering a shared passion for innovation and enterprise. Hailing from Southern California, Mike's upbringing revolved around surfing and sailing. His immersion in the photographic industry led him to collaborate with esteemed publications like Surfing Magazine, allowing him to traverse the globe in pursuit of the perfect wave, a quest that resonated deeply with Bill.

Currently calling Hawaii home, Mike's alignment with the Simpson Foundation's board represents more than a formal role—it's a heartfelt commitment to perpetuating Bill's legacy. Serving on the board provides him with the opportunity to honor his dear friend's values and contribute to causes that held significance for Bill. Mike's dedication to preserving and nurturing Bill's legacy through philanthropy is a testament to their enduring friendship and shared ethos.

  • Jesse’s first exposure to the Bill experience came at the 1993 Indy 500 when he was the only 8-year-old ever invited into Club 164 in the Turn 2 Suites. One of Jesse’s proudest life accomplishments is that he made the return trip over 20 times without ever getting kicked out by Bill!

Hailing from Jackson, Wyoming, Jesse grew up snowboarding every weekend the snow was flying. Born as a bilateral amputee, adaptive snowboarding equipment did not exist outside of the minds and efforts of Jesse and his parents. But, thanks to a family relationship with Bill, he used his engineering vision, experience, and racing fraternity to expand Jesse’s hardware. Bill configured state of the art adaptive solutions that enabled Jesse to shred around the world and Jesse will gladly remind anyone who listens that, in his young days, he was a national champion snowboarder.

Jesse is now an attorney in Washington, DC. On the weekends, you’ll find him and the rest of his motley crew (his wife, 3-year old daughter, and basset hound) in their boat on the Potomac River or Chesapeake Bay. When visiting family out West, he still loves to snowboard and fly fish.

Jesse is honored to continue Bill’s legacy of cutting-edge opportunities, development, and vision in spreading Bill’s spirit to the next generation of dreamers and doers.

  • Michael Mock has been in the construction industry for 45 years and is an Unlimited Licensed General Contractor in North Carolina, a Licensed Certified General Contractor in Florida and a Licensed North Carolina Real Estate Broker. The Lake Norman North Carolina area is where Michael has called home since moving to North Carolina in 1987. Michael is married to his wife Sherry of 26 years, and they have two beautiful adult children Emily and Megan.

Michael was first introduced to Bill Simpson back in 1991 by Dale Earnhardt, Sr. for whom Michael had been completing miscellaneous construction projects for at the time… Bill Simpson and Dale Earnhardt, Sr. were good friends during this time and Bill and his soon-to-be wife Cynthia Engelstad were looking to build a new lake front residence in the Lake Norman North Carolina area which Michael was recruited by Bill to oversee. This introduction started Michael’s long friendship and business relationship with Bill Simpson. Over the course of the next 28 years, Michael completed several commercial construction and real estate development projects for Bill and served as an advisor to Bill Simpson in many of his real estate holdings.

Michael says he is most thankful to Bill for introducing him to his wife Sherry back in 1993. Michael and Bill were out for dinner one night at a Lake Norman area restaurant and Sherry was seated at the adjacent table, Bill struck up a conversation with Sherry and soon introduced Sherry to Michael. Michael and Sherry have been together since.

As one of the directors of the Bill Simpson Foundation, Michael brings a lifetime of experience in helping oversee and guide with his fellow directors the commercial real estate holdings that Bill Simpson spent many years assembling, and which is the primary source of the revenue from which the Bill Simpson Foundation can generously support many charities annually.

Administrative Team

  • I began my career with Bill in 2007 as his property manager/personal assistant. In 2010 when he sold Impact Racing, we became an office of just the two of us. Little did I know at that time my job would become 24/7, getting phone calls and text messages at all hours of the day or night. Anytime he needed a sounding board, a ride, or just needed to talk, I was available. We worked together daily running the properties here in Brownsburg and in Mooresville, NC. My relationship with Bill is one I will always treasure, we were not only employee – employer, but we were also friends. He was there for me during some tough times in my life, he was like a father to me, a mentor. We used to talk and share lots of things, so many stories to tell and cherish. People would ask me how have you stayed so long, we had good and bad times, but we respected each other and worked together. I took my job as his property manager and personal assistant very seriously until the end and I still do today.

I am currently the property manager/administrative assistant for the Bill Simpson Foundation. We have properties in Brownsburg, IN and Mooresville, NC. I run the daily operations as well as keeping all books and records. I love my job; I get to meet lots of interesting people and make some lasting friendships.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time traveling with my husband and daughter, watching dirt racing, scrapbooking, sewing, and making crafts for all my family and friends. Family time is the best time.

I am thrilled to be a part of the foundation that will continue on with Bill’s legacy. He had a heart of gold, and loved to help people in need, not everyone got to see that side of him. Now, everyone will be able to see as the foundation continues on with his vision.
